Eau de Cologne, or "Cologne", originated in Cologne, Germany and has become an essential part of men's daily grooming routine. It offers a subtle, light scent, which is ideal for those who prefer a less dominant scent during the day. With a relatively low concentration of fragrances, cologne is often characterized by its fresh citrus scents, including lime, lemon, bergamot and orange.

The literal meaning of the French term Eau de Cologne is "water from Cologne", a reference to the city where this light fragrance was first created. It was originally conceived as a refreshing scented water that could be sprinkled all over the body.

How to use Eau de Cologne?

Eau de Cologne can be applied liberally to the body. It is ideal to use immediately after showering or bathing, sprinkling or spraying onto the skin to leave a light scent. Thanks to the low concentration of perfume oil, it can be reapplied several times a day.

You only have to apply a little bit of an eau de parfum and you will enjoy it for at least 8 hours. An Eau de Cologne is lighter and fresher, but does not linger as long. The choice between the two depends on your personal preference and how you want to wear the fragrance.

Is cologne strong?

In terms of smell, an eau de cologne has an average of up to a maximum of about 6% of fragrance components (perfume) and this means that the scent lingers longer than with an aftershave. By the way, you don't use an eau de cologne as an aftershave, because it can irritate the freshly shaved skin considerably.
